We manage these invasive non-native animal pest species
Invasive non-native species cost the UK economy around £1.8 billion per year. They have contributed to 40% of animal extinctions over the last 400 years. See below some of the pest species that we manage.

(Rattus norvegicus)
- Can spread diease to humans
- Can damage property and food stuffs

(Mus musculus)
- Can spread disease to humans
- Spoil animal and human food sources
- Damage to property

(Sciurus carolinensis)
- Can spread can spread squirrel pox virus to red squirrels, our native species
- Can also damage and even kill trees
- Very damaging to homes and can be considered a 'fire hazard'

(Muntiacus reevesi)
- Some species of deer are considered as invasive, non-native species
- Can cause damage to our woods through browsing, preventing tree regeneration
- Can affect other wildlife including birds and butterfies

(Neovison vison)
- This invasive species has been responsible for the decline of our native water vole due to predation

(Oryctolagus cuniculus)
- Introduced but now naturalised species
- Caused serious damage to crops
- Can cause tree collapse with their burrowing
